Food additive Acesulfame-K (acesulfame potassium, AK sugar), also called acesulfame, invented in 1967 by the German Hearst Co, is a potassium salt derived from diketene , which is 200 times sweeter than sugar, its safety is better than that of saccharin, is non-toxic,harmless food additives, is the fourth generation of sweetener products developed from the first generation of saccharin sodium, the second generation of sodium cyclamate, and the third generation of aspartame, it also has the advantages of good thermal stability and chemical stability. So this new sweetener helps prolong the shelf life of food and beverage, and is widely used in a variety of beverages and food processing . On 30th, June 1998, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved ace-k (A-K sugar) in the use of the liquid beverage.
